Hospital Admin Training

One of the impactful initiatives is the Administrative International Observership Program, which
welcomes early- and mid-career oncology teams from Ukraine for four-week rotations at leading US
University Cancer Centers. Each program is customized to the team’s s goals for their Cancer
Center, giving them tailored exposure to advanced practices across surgery, oncology and
operations.
Ukrainian teams› gain insight into the full cycle of cancer care—from diagnosis to
survivorship—within one of the nation’s top ten cancer centers. The program’s curriculum combines
clinical observation, research exposure and operational training, including sessions on clinical trial
design, healthcare IT systems, financial operations and multidisciplinary tumor boards. Trainees
observe how Northwestern integrates patient care with research, innovation and supportive services
to achieve the highest standards in oncology.
Since its launch in 2023, the program has already produced measurable outcomes in
Ukraine—participants have reorganized cancer care workflows to improve efficiency, adopted
modern radiation and surgical techniques, introduced enhanced recovery pathways and launched
new patient education efforts cancer care. physicians return home with concrete strategies for
improving patient outcomes, building stronger systems and advancing clinical excellence. Sustaining
and expanding this initiative—through continued funding and partnership—means empowering those
on the front lines of cancer care in Ukraine to rebuild, innovate and bring hope to patients and
families when it’s needed most.
The work U4U is doing — connecting people, resources, and stories across borders—reminds me what healthcare is ultimately about: dignity, humanity, and hope.
