ShelterBox: 25 Years of Humanitarian Shelter Response, a Global Partner in the U4U Network

ShelterBox is a global humanitarian organization focused on providing emergency shelter and essential supplies to families displaced by natural disasters and sustained conflict. Founded over 25 years ago as a Rotary Club initiative in the United Kingdom, ShelterBox has grown into a highly respected international responder operating through a strong global Rotary network.

Their core work centers on rapid deployment of shelter kits, solar lighting and basic household supplies that allow families to survive and stabilize in crisis conditions. ShelterBox operates in both acute disaster response and protracted conflict settings, often working through trusted in country partners when direct
access is limited.

While ShelterBox’s early response in the Ukraine included cross border support for displaced populations in Moldova and targeted shelter repair kits. Their long-term experience in post conflict recovery and shelter reconstruction positions them as a critical partner in humanitarian work as conditions in Ukraine evolve.
U4U is pleased to welcome ShelterBox into our network to strengthen shared learning across humanitarian response models, disaster preparedness and recovery planning. Their experience across global crises offers valuable perspective for organizations working in complex and evolving environments. ShelterBox’s decades of experience delivering shelter in complex emergencies offers valuable insight for strengthening humanitarian response. We see this collaboration as an opportunity to learn from their approach and apply those lessons as needs evolve.
